 regarding Capgrass - to all
from Cheryl - caregiver to Ron who is 56 (PD) but almost positive it's LBD
If Ron starts thinking I am more than one person, do you think it would work if I leave wife # 2 with him while I go on a little trip?????

My Dad was telling Mum tonight that he thought she was two different people. He's also being having constant hallucinations about all sorts of things. There is a man at the end of his bed that he talks to but he wants Mum to make him go away. He also asked her yesterday to help him remember. One moment he is friendly and kind to her the next moment he is calling her every name under the sun. It is tearing my Mum up inside to watch her husband of 47 years going through this, he was always her Rock and soul mate.

Yvonne,
is your dad taking any medication to help deal w/the hallucinations and delusions?

Are most of the people who suffer with this violent? My husband does think there are two of me at times...and there are other people in the house. Are their any meds that aid in this? I am worried about being attacked at night although my husband is a very sweet man.

Yes, AChEIs, psychostimulants, and (last resort) atypical antipsychotics can possibly address the delusions. Please read the Boeve Continuum paper. You can find it at:

You need to address your night-time safety. Can you sleep in separate rooms, where yours can be locked? Can you get a night-time caregiver? Have you removed all weapons (even kitchen knives and scissors) from the house?

Yes, there is another room I can go to and lock...but I do seem to able to reason with him as once he realizes he is in his bed he calms down. I have a picture on the wall of his and he recognizes that. I have removed knives, scissors, etc. What drugs are in those class that you mentioned? He takes 1/2 of 25 mg seroquel at night.

nsalvadore -
I'm pretty sure Dr. Boeve gives a list of all the drugs available in each class:

Yes...I am going to default to my neuro...all this is just wearing me out. Am thinking I just need to adjust to broken sleep and learn to handle the hallucinations. Perhaps the new exelon patch will be our answer...who knows...as of yet it is not available in drugstore.
